Congratulations to Girl Scout Gold Award Scholarship Winner Dorothy Lakshmanamurthy!
Dorothy Lakshmanamurthy Scholarship Winner
The Girl Scouts are excited to announce the success of the Gold Award Scholarchip program made possible by the generosity of their donors. Nearly tripling their scholarship fund this year, they were able to provide scholarships to 10 applicants, ranging from $1500 to $10,000.
One of these remarkable young scholarship award winners is our own Munster Girl Scout Dorothy Lakshmanamurthy, who received the top scholarship of $10,000! Dorothy's Gold Award service project, "Bringing Munster History Outside" involved creating seven trail signs to educate the community about the Town of Munster's interesting history. Dorothy created these signs, located on the Heritage Park Trail, to showcase the origins of Munster, highlight artifacts in the Munster History Museum, and to bring attention to some of the most notable places and people in the town. Dorothy is an active member of both the Munster Historical Society and the Munster Junior Historical Society. Click on "New History Trail" to walk the trail and hear Dorothy's Girl Scout Interview to learn more about her award winning project.
